A failed catalytic converter usually indicates other problems. Replacing without fixing the cause may lead to another failure. Check for:

• ⚠️ Oil or coolant leaks entering the exhaust

Before installing your new converter, always replace old O₂ sensors. Worn sensors can send incorrect readings to the ECM, causing poor performance and premature failure of your new converter.

🚫 Do NOT use silicone or Teflon-based sealants.
They release gases at high heat that damage oxygen sensors.
✔️ Always use manufacturer-approved gaskets and clamps for a leak-free seal.

• Align the converter properly with the exhaust system.
• Tighten all bolts, clamps, and brackets evenly, following the torque specs.
• Check for exhaust leaks before moving forward.

Proper break-in ensures the converter activates and lasts longer.

1. Start the engine naturally (don’t press the accelerator).
2. Idle for 5 minutes to warm up.
3. Raise RPM to 2,500 and hold for 2 minutes.
4. Shut off engine and let it cool completely.
5. Take a 30-minute test drive, avoiding:

• ❌ Hard acceleration
• ❌ Long idling
• ❌ Sudden stops

⚠️ Skipping this step can cause premature failure!

Clear old fault codes so your Engine Control Module (ECM) recognizes the new converter. Follow your vehicle’s recommended drive cycle procedure.

• Listen for rattles or leaks.
