Installation Guide
Review Your Service Manual
Every vehicle has unique requirements. Always verify torque specs, gasket types, and procedures for your make and model.
👉 If you’re not confident with exhaust work, consult a licensed technician to avoid costly mistakes.
Diagnose & Repair Issues Before Installing
A failed catalytic converter usually indicates other problems. Replacing without fixing the cause may lead to another failure. Check for:
- ⚠️ Faulty oxygen sensors
- ⚠️ Engine misfires
- ⚠️ Fuel mixture problems (running too rich or lean)
- ⚠️ Oil or coolant leaks entering the exhaust
✅ Repair these issues first to protect your new converter.
Replace Oxygen (O₂) Sensors
Before installing your new converter, always replace old O₂ sensors. Worn sensors can send incorrect readings to the ECM, causing poor performance and premature failure of your new converter.
Use Correct Sealing Materials
🚫 Do NOT use silicone or Teflon-based sealants.
They release gases at high heat that damage oxygen sensors.
✔️ Always use manufacturer-approved gaskets and clamps for a leak-free seal.
Install with Precision
- Align the converter properly with the exhaust system.
- Tighten all bolts, clamps, and brackets evenly, following the torque specs.
- Check for exhaust leaks before moving forward.
👉 For best results, we recommend having the installation performed by a licensed mechanic to ensure proper fitment and long-term performance.
Perform the Break-In Cycle (Critical!)
Proper break-in ensures the converter activates and lasts longer.
- Start the engine naturally (don’t press the accelerator).
- Idle for 5 minutes to warm up.
- Raise RPM to 2,500 and hold for 2 minutes.
- Shut off engine and let it cool completely.
- Take a 30-minute test drive, avoiding:
- ❌ Hard acceleration
- ❌ Long idling
- ❌ Sudden stops
⚠️ Skipping this step can cause premature failure!
Reset the ECM & Complete a Drive Cycle
Clear old fault codes so your Engine Control Module (ECM) recognizes the new converter. Follow your vehicle’s recommended drive cycle procedure.
Road Test & Inspect
- Confirm there are no warning lights.
- Listen for rattles or leaks.
- Verify smoother performance and proper emissions.
✅ Your catalytic converter is now installed and ready to deliver long-lasting results!
